Rebecca St James has become possibly the biggest name on the Contemporary Christian over recent years, with such popular contributions as Transform and Worship God. Here she presents what will; we have no doubt be only the first of her greatest hits albums, entitled ‘Wait for me.’
The album contains eighteen tracks, making it exceptional value for money, featuring a selection of the tracks that helped make Rebecca so popular. It also includes two previously unreleased tracks, ‘Expressions of Your love’ and ‘I thank You’, making it appeal to even the most committed fans. ‘I thank You’ will I have no doubt become a favourite with the fans, it has a great pop beat and is lyrically one of the albums real high-points, which is no mean-feat on an album with so much quality. ‘Lamb of God’ is taken from the album ‘Worship God’ and its chorus highlights the variety in Rebecca’s song writing, with great possibilities for use in the church setting. ‘Go and sin no more’ starts slowly with emotional vocals however as it progresses through the first verse the beat soon picks up and launches into an outstanding chorus. There are numerous songs from the earlier albums, which, although some now sound slightly dated, fit well into the album as an overview of Rebecca’s career so far. ‘Reborn’ also features with its driving, chart-friendly techno beat, and great vocals, it stands out as a real modern classic. Add into the mix the ever popular ‘Breathe’ and ‘Pray’ and you have the recipe for a top-selling album.
It is refreshing to hear a Christian artist that sings lyrics that are clearly about God, in a time when so many Christian artists choose instead to sing vague, non-specific lyrics Rebecca continues to sing about God, setting a great example to her industry peers. In conclusion this album is destined to be one of the best, if not the best contemporary album of the year! |
