If I had one chance to tell Rebecca something, it would be that she should have named this album something shorter and catchier, mainly so it would fit plushly in our page layout, on one line, just like all the other album titles. Unfortunately, Rebecca's management seem to have forgotten the importance of my review and have thus momentarily lapsed and let it go out with a title I am too lazy to type in full more than once. However, this being a fair and decent kind of site I will endeavour not to allow this oversight to have too negative an effect on our review of what has surely been one of the most anticipated Christian releases ever. I must also applaud the record companies endeavour to send me the special edition with DVD, and song by song explanations in the inlay, that earns brownie points for sure.
Anyway, musical content, I believe that is meant to figure in this review, and never one to let an eager audience down, I'll cover that next. Musically this album mixes pop and rock to great effect and shows why Rebecca is the most popular solo artist in today's Christian Music world, the music is very upbeat and positive, with lyrics referenced in the inlay to scriptures, which is very nice to see an artist directly showing the things that are inspiring their songs. 'Alive' is an awesome track, which for me stands out even amongst all of the other good tracks as a must hear, so if you're shopping on iTunes and buy per song it's definitely worth adding this one to your list. There is also guest appearances from Toby Mac on the urban and edgy sounding 'Thank You' and the Barlow Girls, who feature on 'Forgive Me' a beautiful, slower paced song with a smooth piano led introduction, joined by Cello and Violins and show casing the vocal talents of all of the girls. The production quality is excellent as we have come to expect and this album will keep Rebecca at the forefront of the industry, and has the combination of young and vibrant sounds and strong lyrics that will be sure to touch many people.
The bonus DVD if you get the special edition contains six live tracks from the creation west festival, as well as two more audio only acoustic tracks and a photo gallery. Also watch out for Charmaine singing backing on the concert footage, who we are also promised has a new album coming out soon
