Following on from the massive success of the Worship God album, Rebecca St James brings us this low priced EP or live material from the tour. There have been several artists who have released EP’s of late, and I have to say that it’s a good idea as it allows people to get a feel for the music without too much outlay, and as it goes some of these EP’s have seemed better than the albums themselves.
Rebecca’s EP features nine tracks, which most fans should be familiar with, kicking off with the anathematic ‘Lamb of God’ which has proved to be one of the most popular tracks from the Worship God album, and this live version is really good, with Rebecca inviting the audience along for the chorus. Throughout this track, and indeed, the whole EP it has a very live sound, which is good to hear as many “live” recordings have so much re-mastering done that you can no longer tell they are live. We also have ‘Blessed be your name’ and ‘Let my words be few’ two of Matt Redman’s songs, performed here excellently. Another inclusion is ‘Above All’ which is an undeniable popular song, however I think it’s been overdone of late, and would like to see something different for a change. Rebecca’s own ‘Quiet you with my Love’ and ‘I Adore You’ also feature, and show us her strength as a songwriter, it will be great to see her continue to pen worship songs, as she clearly has a lot of talent. The EP draws to a close with ‘Here I am to Worship’ a definite modern classic, and the final track, which is ‘The Power of Your Love’ however, leave the disc playing for a few minutes and you should also hear ‘Shout to the Lord’
So, they’re all songs that have been around before, either on the Worship God album, or on other worship releases, however they are presented here at a good price, performed very well by one of the leading names in the Christian scene, so if you like the song style, then this is defiantly worth picking up. If you’re lucky you might even end up with a nice autographed edition, like the one I have here…
