The revival generation series has been available in America for sometime now and is currently being released in the UK by Survivor Records, thanks to their link up with Worship Together. This CD features worship from the likes of Delirious?, Paul Oakley, Tim Hughes and Matt Redman along with South Africa's Tree 63.
The album kicks off with the infectious "Not Ashamed" with its anathematic chorus telling of having no shame in the Gospel and no shame in Christ Jesus. It has the kind of solid beat and strong rhythm that made the Cutting Edge tapes so successful! Remembering that this song is from seven years ago, it shows how pioneering it was to have this kind of modern music in the church setting. Also from Delirious? Is the atmospheric "Sanctify" which they famously performed to a packed out Wembley stadium. The song is a worship anthem for a new generation, a cry to God to work in them! This is a great song to get you into a worshipful place with God, just forget about the guys singing and focus on God! Paul Oakley performs three tracks "Joy", "I Have come to love you" and "In the Shadow of the cross." "Joy" being by far the most memorable of the three with powerful guitar riffs and the kind of beat that makes you want to get up and dance. "I have come to love you" offers more of the same qualities and speaks of an all-consuming love for God inspired by his awe-inspiring love for us. "We bow down at your throne, oh Lord" is a mellower, acoustic worship tune that really allows people to enter in and open up their hearts to Jesus. Matt Redman also features on the CD three times, perhaps the best of these being the joyful performance of Kevin Prosch's "Lord of the dance." The album finishes with Matt Redman's song "Holy Moment" performed by Martyn Layzell. It was one of the real stand out tracks from the "Father's Song" album and it is more than done justice on this album!
This is a very good album highlighting some great tracks of youth worship, it is a strong CD for both listening to and for using in personal devotions.
