Rebecca St James, accomplished Australian artist and Grammy award winner is releasing her new album soon, and we here at Nu:Light decided that you, our faithfull readers must get an advance preview of it. Released on the 24th of October 2000, Rebecca’s latest release is entitled, Transform. This album has got to be one of the most chart-freindly Christian albums of the year, however it still keeps to the honest, Christ-Filled lyrics.

The songs on this album not only include the rock type style of some of her earlier releases but are bought bang up to date with some techno beats and extremley well written string arrangements. The album is very upbeat in Tempo and the rhythms are always vibey. “Reborn” is a very modern, dance type tune, it starts off with a rhythm which would fit in with most popular music at present. It is very catchy and you will soon be walking around with the chorus buzzing in your head. Another very modern, techno-influenced track is “For the Love of God” which immediately brings to mind the infamous scripture, 1 Corinthians 13. It speaks of the desire to love God truly, because that is the reason for being here. For me another stand out track had to be “Don’t Worry” it uses a lot of String arrangements and tells a vivid story with some really great vocals which show Rebecca’s great style. For the track “Merciful” you hear the London Philharmonic Orchestra playing the string arrangements, however it is in no way the classical style you would expect from the Orchestra as they clearly show that they are some of the most skilled string players in the world. “All around me” leans strongly on her rock based roots and is a very strong song, which gives out a clear message “If I see my world come tumbling down, If I see my heart touching the Ground, Your all around me.” Other exceptional tracks include “Stand”, “Lean on” and “Vision”

In Conclusion this is a very strong album, which will undoubtedly sell in it’s thousands and see Rebecca nominated for more awards. It is the type of album which you can easily play around unsaved friends, they will be able to recognize the style of music, yet also hear a strong Christian message. I would however say, if you do not enjoy the style of current popular music this may not be for you, if you do it is undoubtedly a good buy.
