You may have heard this young singer before but if not I have no doubt that you soon will, Rachael Lampa is the latest Christian Artists to be making wave on the US airwaves. At only 15 years of age Rachael has an amazing voice which is used to great effect on this album. A quick read through the album notes lets you see that Rachael has an impressive team working with her on this album, Brent Bourgeois, Cindy Morgan, Ginny Owens, Chris Rodriguez and more. The songs were all written specifically for this album, and were written about Ms. Lampas thoughts and experiences.
The album is very well structured and opens with “Day of freedom” this song took me by surprise as it seems to have a very folk/Jewish backing to it, like the soundtrack to a Biblical movie. Although it may not sound like a good formula it works to good effect and gets the album off to a good start. It is closely followed by the hit “Live for you” Which has vibrant backing guitars and Rachael's brilliant vocals telling of her desire to live for Christ. Perhaps my favorite track of the album is the lively “You lift me up” it has an up beat tempo and a strong beat, I think it would be a great idea for a single as it shows that Christians can produce as good, and better music than the secular market. Another great song is “Shaken” which tells of the journey Israel took through the wilderness and how God can lead us through anything with faith and love.
This is a very strong album over all and I would say it will be a great hit, It reminds me slightly of the vocal style of Christian Aguilera, only with the honesty and truth of the likes of Susan Ashton, it is definitely worth trying however it is the type of album which will perhaps not appeal so much to people who are not fans of the genre. |
