Ive
been hearing some interesting rumors about a phat new band which have
been making waves on the Christian music scene and inquisitive as I am
I Decided to get to the bottom of it all, What better for it I decided
I really should interview the lead singer Louise Fellingham.
Louise when you
formed you were known as Purple, what is the story behind the change
of name?
We were originally called 'Purple Phatfish' which came from a keyring.
Someone had a keyring that was a big, purple fish and that's what gave
the inspiration. We then, about a year later decided that 'Phatfish'
was a little snappier, and just decided to change it! Nothing exciting
I'm afraid!
What type of
music would you describe yourselves as producing?
At the moment, our style is rock/pop. Lyrically the songs are based
around our faith, giving worship to God. The heart behind our music
is that people will be drawn closer to God through the songs he has
given us.
What other Christian
artists do you listen to in your spare time?
We tend to listen to all kinds of music. Secular as well as Christian.
Within the Christian scene I prefer to listen to worship music, such
as Matt Redman, some of the vineyard stuff etc..
The new album
Purple Through the Fishtank went straight in at the top of the Premier
UK contemporary charts, did you expect the album to be so succesfull?
It was very exciting that the album hit the charts so successfully.
We are looking forward to seeing what God has in store for it.
You were previously
part of the Stoneligh Worship band, do you still perform at worship
events?
We are still part of the Stoneleigh Worship band and feel that it is
an integral part of who we are. We therefore are still playing at various
worship events as well as doing events in our own name as 'Phatfish'.
Well Thanks Louise I'm sure our web friends cant wait to hear about
what you guys are doing, thanks very much and good luck with any future
releases.
