This is the 4th and most recent release from the New Zealand based Parachute Band. The band specialise in publishing modern worship music written by talented people in New Zealand.
The album Kicks off with 2 very R & B style grooves, My only reservations about the first two tracks is whether they would be very effective in an actual worship session, although I have no doubt that the band themselves can carry it off.. The rest of the CD carries on in the style that you would expect from a worship album with some up-tempo attention grabbers and some more slow-passionate songs. I think that my favorite track would have to be No.3 All My Life, it is really well written and has an infectious, anthematic groove which works to great effect, I can see that I will be whistling this song for days to come. Tracks 4 and 5 slow the pace of the album down slightly but they are still good tracks, I think they may appeal more to a slightly older generation of worshipers though. We now come to another very upbeat song, called “Jesus” the chorus expresses a really deep love for Jesus. “Shout It” is another of the more lively songs with a very effective chorus line telling how we will shout of who is Lord. “Everything” and “Touch me Lord” are very passionate songs expressing the desire of the writers to be touched by the lord in a new way. “Inspired” is another loud track R & B influenced songs, it has strong, vibrant lyrics and a good beat throughout. The final track “I stand in awe” is very low tempo, however it is lyrically very strong.
The album is very well produced and the quality of both music and singing is very high, I found that some of the tracks were slightly to slow for me however others did grab my attention and make me reach for the repeat button. I think that it will fit in well with a lot of the newer integrity music productions, or in some parts the Praise Bands latest works. I would say that it may not be so much for the youth market as the young - middle-aged adult market. |
