Jump5. You know them? You don't know them? How could you not! You'll have heard them, even if you don't realize it, because of all of the Christian Artists around at present, Jump5 have had probably the most mainstream airplay and exposure. They're all still very young, yet have already had enough success and a high enough output to give us 'The Very Best of...' which contains nine tracks that have been popular hits on Radio Disney, plus three new cuts.
Jump5's sounds is friendly, upbeat, poppy and infectious, its the type of music that you know is meant for tweenagers, so make sure the younger sibling has the CD and you get to over hear it. It's not like the mixed messages of secular young bands either, because Jump5 is about getting wholesome music to young people. The production value is top notch, and the vocals are all straight out of the charts, clean and polished. All of the tracks on this album are filled with a lively punch, starting with the first single 'Spinning Around' which really put them straight on the map as a new act, similar in sound is 'All I can Do'. You'll not be surprised to hear how poppy and dance 'dance with me' is, it sounds a bit like the infectious pop of someone like A-teens. You also get their version of Disney classic 'Beauty and the beast' which was recorded for the IMAX release of the film, and is a welcome update on the original. They also cover Michael W. Smith's 'Friends' which they do very well, and it has a good positive message for young people, finishing off the album in a very moving way. The one song that I think perhaps is out of place is 'God Bless the USA' its cheesy and overtly political, so could probably have been cut from the European release.
Overall the album is a great introduction to Jump5, if you have a taste for pop, or have younger siblings/friends who you would like to see listening to good music with a positive message, then this album will prove money well spent, chart friendly, danceable and positive.
