Anyone remember Sonicpraise? That initial live sonicflood album, it was bursting with life, full of passion and enthusiasm. Then came the whole Sonicflood going their separate ways thing. Well, following on from two very successful studio albums, worship leader Jeff Deyo is back with this live release recorded at Parachute Festival 2005 in New Zealand. This is live worship that will click straight away with people who enjoyed the sonicpraise album and really shows how much Jeff gave to the sound of that album.
The album features a mix of tracks from both of the previous albums, plus some new material written by Jeff. Kicking off with the anthematic 'Lose Myself' the album grabs you straight away with the kind of lively praise that just makes you want to jump up wherever you are and give it your all joining in, which, I'm guessing could get some very interesting looks from other passengers if you listen to this one on the commute. This flows straight into the passionate cry for more of God that 'We Are Hungry' which comes with a guarantee to get stuck on loop in your head, as you infectiously sing, 'We are hungry, we are hungry, we are hungry for more of You'. The early pace continues into 'Let it Flow' another Deyo favourite, with power pop chords and a really stirring rhythm. The album also includes 'More Love, More Power' which gets a different treatment to that on the Saturate album, with new sections and lyrics. The pace drops off towards the end, but the album finishes in impressive style with a ten minute long version of 'Bless the Lord' where the crowd are invited to sing praises too, without all the band noise, just raw praise.
This album is destined to be one of the very best live worship albums of the year, anyone who liked early Sonicflood, Live and In The Can era Delirious (I know, I'm showing age!) or Passion should really enjoy this release, and make sure you play those first few tracks loud and proud to all your friends!
