HEAT
CAN I SEE HEAVEN

Official Website

Emerge is the new series from survivor records showcasing new worship acts from around Great Britain. The series will start off at a reduced price to a normal CD so that people can hear these artists with out buying a full album. the first band to be featured on this new label is HEAT a worship band from Manchester, England who performed at the Message 2000 event over the summer.

The band consists of four guys (James Gregory, John Maiden, Chris Lane, Oggy) and two girls (Hayley Gregory, Esther lane). All of the songs that the band uses are written by them and they also play their own instruments.

The CD kicks off with "One Sacrifice" which starts in a very upbeat manner, the vocals are strong and the song has a very catchy, up-tempo chorus. The song lyrics are telling of the unfailing nature of Gods love, and how he constantly does things for us. "Can I see Heaven" In my opinion started off in quite a weak manner however it gathers momentum once it starts going, and has a strong rythm to it with a good beat. "In love with God" is a song which as the title sugest tells of the love which we should all have for God, musically i think it sounds very much like Matt Redman, and the chorus has the simplicity of some of the early cutting edge material.

"To Love you more" is an acoustically driven ballad, with good vocals and quaint yet quality guitar playing running behind them. "Arms of Love" starts off really well with a range of instruments used in the intro, I like the way the the band use plenty of instruments instead of using the current british trend of sticking to a guitar and drums. The album also uses teh Hammond, keyboard and Saxophone. "Arise and Shine" is a song which was chosen to feature on the Soul Survivor live album this year, and was wriiten as a for Salford, Manchester to be changed to Christ. The CD is finished off by a re-mix of the title track "Can I see heaven".

I think that it is good to see young acts making an impression and think that we will hear more of heat soon, they are definatley an act to keep an eye on.
