I
don't know if you have heard Steven's new track yet but "Live out
loud" is certainly making waves. Debuting at number 10 on AC Radio
the song is showing all of the signs for another hugely successful album
from the multi-dove-award-winning star. It has infectious Pop/Rock rhythms
following on the massive success of "Speechless". Steven explains
the title, Declaration as being; "A stake driven in the ground, so
that when storms blow and when hurricane force winds begin to try and
blow you of course and make you rattle your brain, and you forget everything
that you new to be true, you return back to that declaration or statement
and say this is the reality of my life." Steven clearly understands
the important of having a declaration of Christ in your life, so that
you can base your life on that. He says that this title is the one that
"Best thematically encapsulate or sums up what the last season of
life has meant". The question that Steven has asked most over this
period is "Lord, I believe, help my unbelief." After looking
at Shadrac Mishac and Abednigo he realized that their attitude was one
of "You know, God will deliver us but even if he doesn't where still
going to trust him." Truths like this have became really precious
to Steven as he has seen friends and people he loves walk through some
really tough times and they have really challenged his faith. He is in
his own words "A wordsmith" who always wants to have some kind
of an answer or response to these things" yet some of these problems
have left him with the realization that he needed to go back and make
this clear declaration of his faith. Steven says he had to ask himself
the question "Am I willing to stake all that I am on this, even if
I don't know what it is, even if it makes no sense?"
Steven describes
the album as being "Polka" although he does say with a chuckle
that "schizophrenic might be a good word!" Steven makes it
clear that he wants "the music to match the emotion of the lyric,
for better or for worse." Which does seem to sum up well his lyrical
and musical honesty, which we have seen in so many of his recordings.
Musically the album carries on from Speechless using a lot of "Electronic
elements, Programming, Drum loops and samples." But Steven was
careful to keep the guitar as the main instrument although he did write
and perform one song on a piano, which he describes as his first and
probably his last! Producer Brown Banister describes the album as "Modern
rock, very pop in song form, as Steven's songs always are." So
we look forward to hearing the album soon!
