COLOGNE WORSHIP NIGHT

Official Website

As the title suggests this is the first album from the Cologne Worship Night. The Cologne Worship Night's were started a few years ago to give Christians a place to go in Cologne Germany with good Christian Music, where they could go and feel at home worshipping God. This album features event founder Lothar Kosse, British Worship leader Noel Richards and Canadian Norm Strauss.

The first six tracks come from Lothar Kosse and his band, the first of these tracks is "Mercy Is Falling", written by David Ruis, it is a quality worship song and is performed well here, with a great worshipful atmosphere. Lothar also covers the Deliriou5? Song, "Come like you Promised" this up-beat song is a great track with a classic Bass line, although it is by no means as good as the original. Also in the Kosse section is traditional Maranatha favorite "Lord I lift Your Name On High" it is a good song, although I think that it is getting a bit old now. You cant quite escape the rock influences in Kosse's music and I find that it does get slightly tiring, although if it is your style you may well like this. It seems to me like this section of the album was trying to be like the Cutting Edge series with the format however it does not quite manage it. Next follows three songs from Norm Strauss including "Somebody unchained my Feet Tonight" it is a pleasant up-beat song although I didn't think that it was particularly a worship song, more as Strauss says a party song, it drops in phrases from other well known songs, such as "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Johnny be good" and has a strong country influence to it. The album is finished by Noel Richards' section which will be very pleasing to Noel's fans, it has good live music from Noel and includes he has risen and "Champion of the world".

I think that it would be fair to say that this album will appeal greatly to fans of the style of Noel Richards although it is nothing major to write home about for the rest of us.
