Flying into Daybreak is the latest release from Charlie Hall, a worship leader who surely now needs no introduction following his work both on the massively successful Passion projects and as a solo artist. Passionate and full of desire to worship, Charlie is the kind of Worship leader who starts up and you immediately feel that you should either be dancing or on your knees, but one thing is for certain, you want to join in and you want to connect with God. This is something Charlie feels strongly about, as he told MillenniumNulight “A worship leader is to lift people past the song and the band and his or herself and connect people to God. When I see them connect not to me but to God I am blown away at the life they find.”
Flying into Daybreak sees him on absolutely top form, giving us his best album yet with a collection of songs that should bring exactly that connection. Benefiting from the expert production of David Hodges, a producer who has had secular success with the likes of Evanscene, this album launches into life with the prayer of “Micah 6:8” an awesome track which in verses extols the mightiness and the mercy of our Great God and then in chorus lifts up the prayer “Help us love mercy, Help us do justly, Help us walk humbly, with You God”. It's a fantastic worship song that really makes you think and marvel at all God has done. This is followed up quickly with “Marvelous Light” that featured on the previous Passion release and frankly, just makes me want to dance and celebrate, its a proclamation, a loud proclamation that our God is risen, has conquered sin and is alive in us. Songs such as “All my Love” and “Your Glory Endures Forever” draw you into the worship, with beautiful lyrics, really showing Charlie's song writing gift. “All We Need” gives us more of the up tempo praise, filled with longing for God. “Center” is a simple plea for Christ to be the centre of our lives, beautiful in it's simplicity and it's truth this track featured strongly at this years Passion conference and will be on the forthcoming release, “Everything Glorious”. The album gets seriously funky again towards the end with “Running with Your Heart” before closing in “Come for me” a touching song about longing to see Jesus.
This is an awesome worship CD that really deserves a place in all modern worship fans collections, it's powerful and passionate, and has many outstanding songs that should really help the worshipper to connect with God, it's the latest in a line of good releases from the Sixsteps label and I have to say, I can't wait for the next as they are really producing some great worship! This one is a must have and surely will be a contender for worship album of the year.
