The highly anticipated follow up album to “40 acres” has at last arrived. Whilst reading through the inlay card I noticed that track 3 was written by John Michael Talbot which did appear to be a strange name to appear on a contemporary CD such a Caedmons Call. I also noticed the familiar name Mike Haynes who plays the trumpet on ”The only one” I expected this to be a great track because Mike has played for the likes of Michael W Smith. So with eagerness I put the CD into the Hi-Fi and pressed play.
The album opens with “The Only One” an impressive track with a catchy chorus line and obviously excellent trumpet work by Mr Haynes. “Love is different” is a very similar sound to songs from the bands previous album “40 acres” yet this don't seem to become weary or dull but still continues to make great listening. “Mistake of my life” is an interesting track about trusting, it explains the feelings of doubt that we all face at some time or other. The impressive Caedmons Call vocal style is still crisp and fresh . Although this album doesn't seem to have the same modern approach as “40 acres” it is definitely a good buy. The best was definitely saved until last with the ballad of San Francisco, this lively track will set all feet tapping and all hands clapping. See for yourself and practice your whistling for the interlude.
