John David Webster is a singer songwriter who is really going places in the Christian industry, the debut album features eleven tracks, and Webster has a writing credit on all of them, he has strong vocals and is obviously something of the musical prodigy, playing piano, acoustic guitar and keys on the record.
This is a very enjoyable CD, the lyrics are intelligently written and convey a real passion for his music. There is a real focus on the album on the love of God, and on the need for him. From the lively opening of ‘Made to Shine’ through to the closing notes of ‘All for you’ this is a real listeners album, you don’t get bored, you don’t get the urge to skip, instead you get carried through the songs. ‘Come Alive’ has a fast rocky style, which John’s voice really lends itself well too with a really good rhythm to it, while ‘Wait for me’ is slower tempo wise, but full of passion. This is defiantly the best Christian singer-songwriter album I have heard for quite some time, and its good to see a new face coming on the seen and making such a strong release.
The record company sums up his style as piano based art-rock, and I think that’s a pretty good way of summing it up. This is definitely one of the strongest debuts from a Christian singer songwriter that I have ever heard; I expect we will be hearing a lot more of John David.
